The chemical composition of IRAS 05341+0852: a post-AGB F supergiant with 21μm emission
An abundance analysis of the photosphere of the F-type Post-AGB candidate IRAS 05341+0852 is presented. The analysis of the spectra suggests that the atmospheric model: Teff=6500 K, log g=0.5, ξt=5 km s−1 and [M/H]=1.0, best represents the photosphere of the star. We find that the star is metal-poor ([Fe/H]=−0.9) and carbon-rich (C/O≈1.9). Lithium, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, aluminum and silicon...
متن کاملWhy Do the Main Sequence Stars Have Similar Chemical Composition?
In this short note we have reconsidered the Jeans criterion for gravitational contraction of a gas nebula at different temperatures, from the present-day background radiation temperature (2.8 K) to those which existed at the early stage of the Universe. We demonstrate that the initial mass of quasars cannot be of the order of single galaxy masses, but rather 10 solar mass only. If they have lar...
متن کاملChemical composition of halo and disk stars with overlapping metallicities
High resolution (R = 60 000), high S/N spectra have been obtained for 13 halo stars and 16 disk stars with 5400 <∼ Teff <∼ 6500 K, 4.0 <∼ logg <∼ 4.6 and overlapping metallicities in the range −1.3 <∼ [Fe/H] <∼ −0.5. Equivalent widths of weak Fe i and Fe ii lines are used to determine differential values of Teff and logg. Relative abundances of O, Na, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni, Y andBa are det...
متن کاملPulsating red giant and supergiant stars in the Local Group dwarf galaxy Andromeda I
We have conducted an optical long-term monitoring survey of the majority of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group, with the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT), to identify the long period variable (LPV) stars. LPV stars vary on timescales of months to years, and reach the largest amplitudes of their brightness variations at optical wavelengths, due to the changing temperature. They trace stellar populati...
متن کاملChemical composition of optically bright post-AGB stars
We present a detailed LTE chemical analysis of 10 optically bright F-type post-AGB objects on the basis of the analysis of high-resolution optical spectra and compare the results with similar objects discussed in the literature. The iron content is low on average, and so confirms the old and hence low-mass nature of the supergiants, with a noticable exception of HD 95767. We emphasize the fact ...
